5, 4, 3, 2, 1….
Everything begins in the mind.
So often we rationalize daily events in our lives. Pushing back the timeframe on tasks that can be so easily accomplished just by having a willingness to act.
When anxiety sets in, and you’re afraid to act. That’s the time you need to implement the 5 second rule.
I practice the 5 second rule every chance I get.
- Before exercising
- Before eating
- Before taking on new tasks
The key benefit of the 5 second rule is in changing your mindset.
Activities or events that need to be accomplish becomes easier when we align our thoughts with our actions.
How does it work?
Don’t think…just do!
Developing the right mindset, whether through self help books, experiences, or growth, will propel your life in a positive direction.
It is a necessary process that should be practiced in our daily lives. It may not seem like it now, but it is.
My Story
Another Monday morning and I am rassling with myself. Mondays are usually so hard to appreciate, after a two (2) days mini vacation from work.
The Alarm goes off…
I lay in bed staring at the ceiling.
“Do I really need to get up now?” Just five (5) more minutes I keep telling myself. “I will do it tomorrow.”
But tomorrow never comes…..
Fast forward years later. Before talking myself out of getting up I count 5, 4, 3, 2, 1…
This rule has helped me to struggle less with this decision.
Before the alarm goes off, I am up, starting my day – my “Intentional Mornings“.
Having intentional mornings and creating a routine consists of at least one of the following per day.
✨Writing a page in your book
✨Starting a blog
✨Listening to a podcast
✨Connecting with your spiritual being
✨Connecting with family and friends
✨Running a 5k
✨Doing Yoga
✨Meditating
These stolen extra hours in the mornings, have helped me to work on my mind, body and soul.
This is when we are able to show up as our best selves.
What can you do when your purpose is aligned with your vision for your life?
I love it. Struggling in the morning is real, but i realize that exercising really control your output for the day. Exercise is considered a brain puller and controller.
